Last Tuesday, students and teachers took their interactions outside of the classroom and inside the court. Notre Dame’s varsity volleyball team faced off against faculty members, the Edu-Gators, in a game filled with fun and fiery competition in Julie Billiart Hall. Rachel ‘25, who has been playing libero at ND since her freshman year, shares that seeing all of the teachers play together was her favorite part of the game; many of her teammates agree.

Sr. Gillian Wallace, a religious studies teacher and Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, believes this game is an important tradition to continue because, “it’s an opportunity for [her] groovy students and groovy coworkers to gather together.” She also appreciated the skill of the varsity volleyball team: “They definitely went easy on us.”

For Maya ‘25, an opposite on the team, “seeing the faculty win a point after a long rally” was a highlight of the competitive (but amusing) battle. Emma ‘25, a DS, who commentated for the game, believes two of the standout staff players were Ms. Amanda Klasila and Ms. Cara Cavigliano ‘00 Borromei. Both the student players and the faculty definitely had a ball. Until next year’s game!
