Studying Hinduism

In Steve Herrera's World Religions class, students are studying Hinduism. Their guest speaker was Dr. Jyothi Lulla introduced key ideas about Hinduism to the class.

Dr. Jyothi Lulla is a retired Kaiser Physician, specializing in allergy, immunology, and pediatric lung diseases. She has clinical pastoral education, is a certified Dharma Ambassador by Hindu American Foundation and is a certified speaker at Islamic Network Group. She has attended extended classes in Hindu scriptures at the Vedanta society and the Chinmaya Mission and has been a coordinator of the Gandhi Youth camp, which promotes Gandhian values of peace and nonviolence. She is also a board member of the Silicon Valley Interreligious Council and a pioneer of “Sukham”, an organization addressing ageing issues and community needs.

As a follow up, two students in the class volunteered to apply henna to the hands of their classmates as they learned about this wonderful cultural tradition.
