Heiwa Taiko Brings Japanese Culture to Campus

Freshman classes traditionally study Japanese culture in conjunction with their reading of When the Emperor was Divine by Julie Otsuka. One aspect of that culture is Taiko drumming, which students were able to experience through an assembly featuring Heiwa Taiko, a group of inspiring grandmothers who perform on 19" drums they created themselves.

Following their performance, students and teachers were invited to try their hand at Taiko!
