Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation

Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation

By Luce Cada '23

As a Catholic learning community, Notre Dame provides an on-campus opportunity for students to be prepared for the sacrament of confirmation into the Church. All students who are confirmed through Notre Dame take a mandatory class called “Faithful Life” as part of the 2-year process.

This year, 40 upperclassmen were confirmed at the Confirmation Mass on Friday, May 21st. It is traditionally held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph, Notre Dame's place of worship. The current COVID-19 situation allowed for the students and families to attend Mass in person. The rest of the school was invited to attend virtually as part of their Friday activities. The Peer Ministry Leadership Team (PMLT) and the campus ministry team were there to help with the Mass, which was presided over by the Most Reverend Oscar Cantú, Bishop of San Jose.
