ND Celebrates Homecoming with Virtual Competitions

On the night of November 6th, Notre Dame held its first virtual homecoming. The theme of this year’s homecoming was “Game Show,” featuring Family Feud, Jeopardy, the Price is Right, performances from the cheerleaders and many more. Both faculty and students participated in each game, with some games specific to a class or group of staff.

Family Feud was hosted by one of Notre Dame’s history teachers, Mr. Novotny. Polls were previously sent out to each class to rank each answer, and a group of faculty and faculty alumni took turns guessing which options were most popular at Notre Dame. Jeopardy was a game with juniors and seniors battling each other, and after completing a board full of “unofficial official traditions” and more fun categories, the seniors won. Freshmen and sophomore representatives played The Price is Right, and the Class of 2024 Dragons recorded their first Homecoming win. Some of the other games the entire school took part in were Beat Shazam, where they guessed songs played, and King of Masked Singer, where staff members sang portions of a song and students figured out who was singing. The cheerleaders also made their debut this year! Each group of class chearleaders compiled their own video to showcase their dance talents.

This year, homecoming became another unforgettable memory with its unique virtual setting. Students and staff alike were able to uncover facts about ND that they hadn’t known previously. The school community was brought together once more in a new, fun way this quarantine.
