Dancing Returns to the ND Campus

Dancing Returns to the ND Campus

Notre Dame is allowing multiple after-school activities to return to campus under certain conditions, including the Regent Collective Dance Company (RCDC). The varsity and junior varsity teams have gone back to dancing on campus once a week, outdoors in the 3rd Street parking lot. The varsity team typically practices on Mondays and Wednesdays while the junior varsity team practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Now that the circumstances have changed, the teams have been practicing on campus rather than joining their normal Zoom rehearsals every Wednesday and Thursday.

For the past two months, RCDC has been preparing for their upcoming winter show, Flight: A Peter Pan Show. Featuring choreographies by Mrs. King, ND’s dance teacher, as well as original choreographies by the students, the show tells the adventure of Peter Pan and Wendy. Similar to last year, the annual show loosely follows a storyline illustrated through many forms of dance.

For the first time this year, they were able to dance in sync and see how much they could accomplish in this new environment. As ND continues to stay safe during the coronavirus, more opportunities may open up as we carefully come back to a new normal.
