ND Shines at Stanford Invitational

Notre Dame's Speech & Debate Team competed last weekend at the Stanford Invitational Speech & Debate Tournament, bringing home trophies and earning accolades. The week before seven students participated in the Santa Clara Valley MUN (Model United Nations) conference where students represented the Philippines.

For the MUN conference students researched topics pertaining to the United Nations and the Philippines. Two students, mila Bekele '23 and Anna Yang '23 won research awards for the research papers they wrote about the Philippines and the International Atomic Energy Association.

The Stanford Tournament was attended by hundreds of students from all across the United States. Among the participants, five ND students earned special recognition:

-Mila Bekele '23 - JV Original Oratory - advanced to quarters - top 28 out of 100

-Lindsay Golan '23 - JV Dramatic Interp - placed 3rd overall out of 50

-Snikitha Banda '23 - Varsity Impromptu and Varsity National Extemp - advanced to quarters in Extemp - top 28 out of 70

-Shruthi Sriram '21 - Varsity Impromptu -advanced to quarters - top 28 out of 75

-Neha Jain '20 - Varsity Impromptu - advanced to quarters - top 28 out of 75 and Varsity Oratorical Interp - placed 8th overall out of 50

We wish them luck as they prepare for the state qualifying tournaments coming up!
