Notre Dame Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

Notre Dame seniors Cynthia, Anisha, Sahithi and Cassidy recently joined a prestigious group of high school seniors recognized as National Merit Semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Because of their truly superb performance on the PSAT, all four young women will be considered for National Merit, college and corporate-sponsored scholarships if they move to finalist status, notification of which is made in the spring.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships.  This program, established in 1955, is privately financed and not-for-profit, operating without government assistance.  The competition is open to all U.S. high school students who meet the participation requirements which include taking the PSAT/NMSQT exam (Preliminary SAT) in their third year of high school. About 1.6 million students entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.

We take great pride in the accomplishments of Cynthia, Anisha, Sahithi and Cassidy, knowing that these young women reflect their personal academic attributes as well as the education and support they have received from Notre Dame faculty and staff.
