Notre Dame Theatre Presents A Little Princess - April 6-8

It's that time of year - when the theatre kids take over Julie Billiart Hall, build a huge stage, hang a bunch of lights, sew a bunch of costumes, and sing, dance and act their hearts out. Are you ready for our spring musical? Because we are!

For months we've been exploring British colonialism, West African rituals and symbols, Victorian perceptions of childhood, and much more as we've prepared this relatively unknown musical. Based on the book A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the musical follows Sara Crewe, a young girl who after having been raised by her father, an intrepid African colonialist, is sent from West Africa to a London finishing school. Her adventures and misadventures there are not of as much interest, however, as the dreamscape she creates for herself and her friends. Peek over Sara's shoulder and into her imagination in our re-imagined gym space that has audience seating on three sides of the stage.
