Board Committee: Mission Integration
I am a proud alum of NDSJ. I attended Catholic Elementary Schools in San Jose, earned a BA and Teaching Credential from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont and an MA in Administration from San Jose State University. My essential credential, SNDdeN, identifies me as a life-long member of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur since 1952.
My ministerial experiences have been varied and included, teaching, social ministry, administration and pastoral and diocesan assignments. I also served in Rome, Italy, as Community Coordinator at our Generalate. This facility was a multifunctional center and headquarters for our International Administrative Team. It provided sabbatical programs for Women Religious from some twenty counties and offered a welcoming space for visitors from near and far. My recent ministry, serving as the Bishop’s Delegate to Religious, connected me with five hundred men and women religious who serve or live in the Diocese of San Jose. The internationality of many of these congregations broadened my global perspective and added to the richness of the multicultural dimension of the local church of San Jose.
I accepted the invitation to serve on the Board with the hope that perhaps I might lend some wisdom that comes with many years of experience and reciprocally learn from the resilience of youth as they witness uniquely to the Goodness of God, the school’s central mission. Further, I wish to support the teachers in furthering Saint Julie’s vision that of, “Teaching young women what they need to know for life.” This life-long learning, compatible with the message of the gospel, is to be advocates for justice in all areas of their lives.
