Demerris (Class of ‘87) is a third-generation Notre Dame High School alumna. Demerris completed an undergraduate degree in English Literature at UC Berkeley, a Master’s degree in Education and teaching credential at Stanford University, a second Master’s degree in Educational Administration at Santa Clara University, and a Doctorate of Education in Organization and Leadership at the University of San Francisco. Trained as a secondary teacher, Demerris began her career as a high school English teacher before entering K-12 administration. She has served in various administrative capacities throughout her 24 years in education, from high school principal to University Ombudsperson and Director of Student Life at San Jose State University. She currently serves as the Director of Workforce & Organization Development at the Santa Clara County Office of Education. As a teacher and leader Demerris’ focus has been to support students and colleagues in their search for opportunities and tools that enable them to be their best and, in turn, to do their best for others.
Demerris lives in Willow Glen and is a life-long resident of San Jose. She loves to read, travel with her spouse Jeremy and son Sam, and logs about 1,200 running miles a year with Rocky, her 4-legged companion.
