Nicola is a Class of 2003 graduate of Notre Dame, where she was actively involved in sports teams and student council and fondly remembers climbing the stairs to her locker on the third floor of the old administration building. Currently, she works as a product manager at Intel in Santa Clara, focused on machine-learning and artificial intelligence platforms. She earned a BS in mechanical engineering from MIT, and returned to MIT for a MS in mechanical engineering. She also holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, which she earned as part of the Leaders for Global Operations Program. Previously, she has worked at Hewlett Packard and Amazon in various engineering and operations positions.
After a volunteer trip to the Philippines in the immediate aftermath of Super Typhoon Hayian, Nicola was inspired to return to the Philippines following graduate school to work with the Philippine Red Cross to develop processes and procedures that improve disaster response times. STEM education, particularly for young women, is another passion - she has served on the steering committee of BE WiSE (Better Education for Women in Science and Engineering) and was nominated for volunteer of the year by the San Diego Science Alliance.
