Barbara graduated from Wellesley College (BA), Johns Hopkins University (MA) and Santa Clara University, (MA) with degrees in English Literature, The Writing Seminars, and Educational Administration and Counseling, respectively. She worked in education as an English faculty member (The Northfield School (MA); Waltham High School (MA); Bellarmine College Prep (CA); Notre Dame High School (Summer School). She also worked in college admissions at Wellesley College, Santa Clara University and UC Berkeley. She was the Director of College Counseling at Notre Dame HS, and a College Counselor at Bellarmine. Volunteer experiences include Partners in Reading, Live Oak Services, various Home and School Clubs when her sons were in school, and Saint Jude's (Cupertino, Episcopal Church) as Stephen Ministry Leader and Liturgy Team member.
Barbara's interests include writing (she is the author of the book Offertories: Exclamations and Disequilibriums), reading (she is a member of several book clubs with a vast array of genres covered), traveling (her sons live everywhere in the world - so Poland, Mexico, and Massachusetts are on her travel lists), supporting the arts (theater, museums, concerts) as a patron, and supporting issues related to social justice, where she knows that every voice needs to be raised to make the world fairer.
