Mary is a California native and graduated from Oregon State University. Her professional career included teaching and serving as the home economics department chair at Yerba Buena High School in San Jose for 15 years. She also spent 10 years teaching American cooking and culture to immigrants.


Mary began volunteering in the community 30 years ago and has volunteered for Parental Stress Hotline, Stanford Children’s Hospital Docent, Sacred Heart Community Services, Junior League of San Jose, Bellarmine and JW House.  She is a past president of the Junior League of San Jose, past member of the Association of Junior Leagues International Governance Board, JLSJ Endowment Fund board president, and the Bellarmine AMEN chairman. She has been involved in fundraising for many organizations and has chaired the Booksin Family Fun Night, JLSJ Fashion Show, Bellarmine Fashion Show, Nordstrom Trend Show, and the JLSJ Trivia Challenge.  Mary was the recipient of the 2003 San Jose Magazine’s Woman Making a Mark award, the Dorothy Bogen Farrington award for outstanding member of the Junior League of San Jose, the JLSJ Pat Gustke Outstanding Sustainer Award and has received a California Legislature Assembly Resolution.


Mary enjoys dining and traveling with Angelo, her husband of 43 years. Angelo and Mary have a son, Kevin.
