Notre Dame freshman Holly Jackson participated in the 5th annual White House Science Fair Monda. The results of her research, a study of the relative strengths and compatibility of threads and fabrics, can potentially be applied to Ebola protective gear/hazmat suits for emergency medical and environmental response; space suits and interplanetary parachutes for NASA, safer seatbelts in new age transposition modalities, etc. In addition to meeting President Obama, Holly presented her research to White House Chief Technology Officer Meg Smith.
Each Notre Dame student undergoes a transformational journey over the course of her four years. Paramount to this growth are two 'book-end' projects, the Woman's Place Project and the Senior Service Learning Project, which culminates in the Young Women's Advocacy Summit. more
