My name is Desiree Salguero, and I am chair of the Notre Dame Parent Association (NDPA) for the 2013-2014 school year. I began volunteering at Notre Dame when my daughter was an eighth grader. I was very curious to see what the community was like. I volunteered for the Athletic Booster Club Barbecue and met some incredibly wonderful and giving people. I liked what I saw, I liked what I heard, I liked how it felt at the barbecue (and yes the food was good too!). I knew I wanted to be part of this community!
We, as parents and guardians, are an integral part of the ND community. We are here to assist the school, not only in a financial context, but also through volunteering. As we support the school, it can in turn continue to provide a healthy, positive environment where our daughters will thrive.
Notre Dame Hallmark six states, “We create community among those with whom we work and with those we serve.” It illustrates what ‘we’ as parents of Notre Dame believe; many of you were drawn to Notre Dame because you liked the community. The parent association plays an integral part in supporting the school in its academic and social responsibilities through various events and activities. Without your support, we cannot successfully complete St. Julie Billiart’s vision for Notre Dame’s students to “teach them what they need to know for life.”
I encourage you to read our weekly email communication, the NDPA Panorama, which contains information about various activities and events where your assistance will be needed and very much appreciated.
Further information can also be found on the school website at www.ndsj.org
. To volunteer you can sign up through IVolunteer
which can be found at here.
I appreciate we live very busy lives full of schedules, appointments and travel; I just hope that you will take the time to be a part of our community (at any level), because without your assistance, Notre Dame wouldn’t be Notre Dame! I look forward to meeting you and working with you.
Let’s go team Notre Dame!
