Because a Notre Dame education is an experience that expands beyond the classroom, students are offered a number of opportunities for travel and immersion in other cultures. Each summer, students have the opportunity to travel on teacher-led trips to Europe, Japan and Central America for language and cultural enhancement.
Spring break also offers students an opportunity to participate in immersion trips to New Orleans, Louisiana where students build homes for local residents.
Students can participate in an ecology immersion trip to Costa Rica during the summer sponsored by the Science Department or study contemporary and Shakespearean theater in Ashland, Oregon, sponsored by the English Department in the fall.
In the summer, students and faculty also participate in a social justice immersion trip to El Salvador.
