Do You Know How to...Help?

After school on February 24, the Red Cross Club hosted an event called "Do You Know How to... Help!" At this event, students learned what to do in a situation when someone is choking or is wounded. Daryl-Blythe Abad, a volunteer youth services coordinator from the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, led everyone in a training and demonstration. She allowed students to practice the skills they learned through hands-on activity, such as practicing how to give the Heimlich and how to apply bandages. The event ended with a little food and drink and a friendly competition that allowed students to test their knowledge. Leaving the room, students were confident and equipped in that they know what they have to do if someone around them is choking or is wounded.
