Notre Dame Celebrates Advent

By Juliet Barry '17 -- Notre Dame celebrated the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception yesterday. We were greeted by the talented organ playing of Eleanor, a Notre Dame freshman, as we walked into the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph. The mass incorporated the Notre Dame spirit of diversity as students dressed up in the traditional clothing of their cultures for the entrance procession. The liturgy also included the “Put a Dollar in Your Pocket” campaign to support Catholic Charities and their work with refugees. Notre Dame’s chemistry teacher Ms. Vu shared her powerful story about her escape from Vietnam and welcome into the United States. During his homily, Father Joseph Benedict invited us to say “Yes!” to God just as Mary did.
