Nine Students Inducted into International Thespian Society

Yesterday, Notre Dame held its second International Thespian Society (ITS) induction ceremony. Nine new members were added to the expanding theater honors group.

The International Thespian Society is the Educational Theatre Association's official honor program for students. The association, which has been accepting students since 1929, recognizes the theater achievements of high school and middle school students. The Notre Dame chapter was started last year by Ms. Kane, who believed the outstanding efforts of the theater community should not go unrecognized.

To be inducted into ITS, a Notre Dame student must have contributed to at least two aspects of theater, including acting, production or business. Students who contribute ten hours in one of these categories are awarded a point. To be inducted, a student must earn at least 10 points, which adds up to one star.

With the growing performing arts program, it is great for students to be able to feel rewarded for their hard work. Although the society has started out small, it will undoubtedly continue to grow over the next few years.
